Type: red Grape variety: 100% Lagrein Production techniques: handmade harvest; three weeks of spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts; pigeage and delestage. 11 months in barriques and tonneaux (oak casks, 500 l). Sensory characteristics: deep garnet red. Astonishingly complex aroma: blackcurrant, cherry, mulberry, clove, spices; great delicacy. Food and wine matching: best served at 16 to 18°C. Delicious with appetizers, smoked fish and white meat. Notes: Lareyn was a bard among the “retici” (ancestors of South-Tirolese people); this could be the etymologic origin of local South-Tirolese wine Lagrein. |
